New Scoil Nioclais Sensory Garden

We have been busy since Easter building up our new sensory garden. Thank you to everyone who contributed by buying raffle tickets in our Easter Egg raffle and to The Parents Association who have kindly matched the amount raised so we can create a new sensory garden running parallel to the Church fence! We must also thank our Principal, Bean Uí Laoire who funded a large part of the the garden too !

We have extended our vegetable patch and fourth classes as the caretakers have been busy planting veg and fruit ! Thank you Mr Walsh for putting the beds together and thank you Michael for helping us fill the beds with soil.

Once the beds were filled it was time to plant ! All four fourth classes and some of the fifth classes as well as senior infants planted the sensory beds.

Mr Moynihan's class work out the planting in one of the big plots!

Ms Bradley's pupils working in the "taste" beds i.e. the veg garden .

A group of Ms Ruane's pupils planting the scented plants in the "Smell " bed . Thank you to Hanley's Garden Centre and Griffin's Garden Centre for giving us a generous 15% discount on the plants and sleepers.

Pupils from Mr Flynn's class get on with planting plants for the "Touch" bed while some of their classmates fill the watering cans !
Ms Quigney found some enthusiastic gardeners to plant out the strawberry plants !

Well Done to everyone ..............from the School Garden Committee and the Green Schools committee!
